The Ernest J. Gaines Center participated in the University of Houston-Downtown's "Read Out!" for Gaines' novel A Lesson before Dying. Interim Director Dr. Matthew Teutsch Skyped with students in June, and on July 8, he went to Houston to discuss Gaines' work with students and community members.
